In 2023 and 2024, Rachael partnered with Tourism Revelstoke for Revelstoke Wildflower Festival. She attended the event as a special guest, and created content for social media to promote the Festival and capture the incredible wildflower biodiversity in the region. During the summer, Revelstoke’s alpine and subalpine environments are coloured with a stunning array of colours due to wildflowers blooming. Considering this ecosystem is often covered with snow, most of the plant life is dormant for the majority of the year. When warmer temperatures arrive in the spring and summer, the snow cover melts away, and these highly adapted alpine plants take full advantage of the sunlight.
After planning content goals with Tourism Revelstoke, Rachael produced, wrote, filmed, hosted, and edited reels, carousel posts, and stories which were shared on her @thenatureeducator platforms. She also provided high-resolution photography for Tourism Revelstoke’s use (see examples in the above image carousel!
Rachael also created content spotlighting Wildsight to highlight this non-profit organization’s incredible environmental protection work. She joined Wildsight in the field to capture their work with the at-risk Western Toads. These amphibians journey from the forests of Mt. Mackenzie and Mt. Cartier to the Columbia River marshes for breeding, but must cross a busy road to reach this wetland habitat. They are thus challenged with traffic, which poses a serious risk to their survival. The reel and stories encourages visitors and locals to be aware of toad crossings in the Revelstoke region, as well as encourage volunteering as a Toad Angel to support toad road crossings.
